So..... Which instructor are you? I just bought a 06 700 and was looking through pics and saw your post. I finished E&E June 2011.

I used a dremmel. In the video supplied with the kit they use some type of small pnuematic reciprocating saw.

You have to trim the lower plastic piece of the pod and also the opening of the front plastic under the pod. All you are doing is making the already existing openings a little larger to have room for the 4 flex hoses. The kit is so complete that it even comes with rubber trim that you put on these openings after you trim them. Looks just like stock. I still have people that come up to me and say im crazy for going deep without snorkles because you can't tell they are there. look closely on this pic and you will see what im talking about. Look at the black trim on the lower black pod piece and also in front of the gas cap.

Took probably about 6 hours. It is time consuming but worth it to take your time. The vid is step by step, easy to follow. Very well thought out kit. Just do not try to rush it. I watched the whole video first, then preppped the bike, and then started the install. While installing I kept playing and pausing the vid as I went along.
