yes that is true if the speedo goes out so does the awd.if your good with wiring you can bypass the speedo.look on ebay for speedo.

does the four wheel drive on those go thru the speedo? i was told if it doesnt sense speed it wont engage the four wheel drive. cause the speedo dont work.
