Heading up north for the weekend!
We are all loaded up and heading north to the Dunbar area for the weekend. My son and I leave 5 am and should be unload at the cabin in Athelstane and on the trails by 10 am. If anyone sees a Red 850XP with mirrors on the trail be sure to stop and say hello to us!

We had a great trip. We arrived at the cabin in Silver Cliff WI at 10 am and hit the trails. The first day was kind of chilly but the trails were perfect. Almost no dust because of the major rain they had 2 days prior. We headed up to Dunbar and then north. We found a nice 2 track trails with plenty of downed trees & washouts from the storm. Glad I had the my A Arm guards! We then came back down by Goodman then back to the cabin for a short break then off to Nimrods for dinner and drinks. We left Nimrods about 10.30 and the temp had dropped to around 40. It was a very cold 10 mile run back to the cabin. First day we did 140 miles.
Next morning we woke to to a crystal blue sky. We were on the trail by 8 am. Headed up to Goodman for breakfast. Trails were even better then the day before. Then we headed north and ended up several hours later at Dunbar for fuel. Then south back the the cabin. The weather was perfect. We did 120 miles that day. We had a great trip. 260 miles in two days. Here are some pictures of our ride. Sorry for the poor quality. I forget the camera and used my blackberry.

Have you ever been to McCaslin Mountain campground near Athelstane? They use to have some of the best riding. Unfortunately the DNR closed most of the trails in the early spring of this year.
Nice pictures and it looks like you guys had a good time. Fall is my favorite time of the year and there's nothing better than a ride through the woods when the leaves are changing.

No I have not. We always ride north. Sometimes we go to the casino in Watersmeet MI and back or we go even further up to Houghton MI and back. That usually is a 2 day ride.
