Head over around Cooks Forest, there are tons of trails out in the Allegheny mountains.

True...but be careful where you ride because some areas (especially National Forest lands) are aggressively patrolled & fines can be very stiff.
Regarding Hatfield McCoy...yes, there are many miles of trails down there but I personally don't think the actual riding is any better than we have here in PA. There is just much more of it. After our last trip to HM, we decided it just wasn't worth the drive any more. There are many that will disagree with this viewpoint though. It all depends on what kind of riding you like to do. You probably should do HM at least once. Just my opinion.
I hear Snowshoe is having a Chicken Barbeque dinner at the end of the day on Sept. 24. You might want to try it. I think the entire cost is $15 but that is second hand information.

Elaborate would ya? Why would you have any problems as long as you stay on the designated ATV trails? I take it you have had issues with them?

Iggy...If you're talking about the designated National Forest trails north of Marionville, you're right, there is no problem. There are, however, no legal trails around the Cook Forest area that I know of other than private property, but there are many outlaw trails & you can get in big trouble on some of them. I think the Shiloh trails are private. We have a camp in the area & I wish I could find some safe riding in that area.

Snowshoe might be open, check the website. Tri-County ATV & Rescue also might be open. It is located just east of Indiana PA, but U need to be a member. It used to be $100 per year but I don't know what it is now. I think they also have a website.
