Looks like there will be a 2011 850 X2 Sportsman

The 2011 850 engine was certified 6-1-10 by CARB, and on the certificate they list the following sportsmans

2011 850
2011 850 EPS
2011 850 Touring

and they also list a

2011 850 X2

I know several fokes have mentioned wanting a 850 X2, so I thought I would pass on the good news. Polaris will not likely be makeing a formal release of the machine untill the dealer show in July.

cc1999,

Where can you access that data from? Any mention of the 550EPS models or any other EPS models (like the 400 class)?

Thanks,

The info is on the CARB website, its not easy to find, and whenever you link it, the links tend to fail. But I will try anyway.

He I searched and searched for anymore emissions reports etc. for 2011 and couldn't find anymore info. on other models soon to be released. Strange that this report only covers the 800 class models. Wonder about the 550 and Scrammy's etc.?

Regards,

R'

Well some mfgs have not cerrtified any of there 2011 models. Others seem to have certifired almost all of them like Yamaha and Kawi. Can-am I think is still missing a couple models. Polaris just started showing up in the 2011 CARB listing last week. Most of the time anything major being released, waits till after the company officialy anounces the product like the CAn-am Commander side by side.

In this case the X2 850 has shown up via the CARB cert. so did the Can-am Outlander 800 XXC and XMR versions, also both semi new models for 2011.

Here is the link with the list of everything released via CARB certifications, so far for 2011 models.

CARB has release some more 2011 Polaris certifications 6-10-10.

550cc Utiltiy ATV
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/...130072_549.pdf

448cc-510cc Sport ATV (Outlaws)
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/...74_448-510.pdf

329cc (Trail Boss & Trail Blazer)
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/...130073_329.pdf

Keep in mind these are just engine certification, there is not really much if any info listed reguarding features like EPS. So we will have to wait till late July for Polaris to officially release there 2011 lineup to get all feature details.

How much would EPS add to the cost of a 500HO? Being optional would be nice, just to tight fisted folks like me could opt out of it.

The 500 HO has never been availble with EPS. Only the newer XP models have EPS.

There is an aftermarket kit fot the older chassis Sprotsmans, and it runs over a grand just for the kit, then from what I here its a mother to install. The aftermarket version is not speed sensative so its really not on par with what you get from the factory on a 550 XP EPS.

The old sportman chassis 500HO is still availble for 2010, not sure if they will continue to offer it in 2011. It has not yet been certified by CARB. The 550 XP sportsman is availble without EPS, and cost several hundred less then the EPS version.

They do not need it CARB certified to sell it in the rest of the USA and Canada? So, it would only affect being offered in California, correct??

I was wondering if they were expanding EPS to the rest of the Sportsman line??

I beleave that to be true, however I do think there are other states that have similar requirements.

I also do not remember ever seeing a model that was in a given years lineup, with any sort of disclamer like "Not availble in California ".

I do know for fact that Polaris has not yet certified there entire 2011 lineup, so the 500HO may yet live for 2011 even in California. They have yet to certify any of there UTVs, and they are always listed on the same page as the ATVs.

I will say that I would not be really susprised though if the old chassis is dropped for 2011, based on the fact that they had cut it back to 1 single seat model and one two up model for 2010. I believe Polaris has it on a phase out schedual and with only 2 models left in 2010, I don't think the older chassis is going to be around to much longer.
