Exclamation has your belt slipped?

OK. I'm looking at purchasing an ATV and I like the Polaris'. But a lot of people who don't own one seem to think they heard a friend of a friend say their Polaris ATV had problems with the belt slipping, with the clutch getting wet.

Has your belt slipped?

i take mine through some deep water( racks go under) with no snorkle, i have filled up my belt box a few times at this point it will slip, but if you keep it remotly dry and us low range when needed your belt will last forever.

Blew my belt on my 850XP at 1500 miles but never had one slip all the years I have had Polaris. This is my 4th.

P.S. Welcome!

Thanks for all the replies. I've ridden Arctic Cats before and we cross a lot of streams around here. We cross them enough that one of us wears waders and finds a path through by walking first. But I'd say we only get it floorboards deep if we can help it.

I have chunked a few belts but never had one totally fail. I have also never had a belt slip that I noticed but I make it a point to stay out of deep water.

2009' 800 Touring, 500 miles, blew one last month after the wife tried taking on a deep muddy in high range, muddy won.

The 2010 500 HO 750 miles, is eight months old and just received it's fifth belt, still haven't figured out why it doesn't like them, but it's not the shimming done checked that twice.
