magnum bogs unless override is held
i have a 98 magnum 425 4x4, during a ride today it randomly started to bog down, kind of like it was getting cut off, and if i hold the over ride button it will speed up a tiny bit but if i let off the exhaust will pop and it will slow back down, it does this until you reach about 1/4 throttle, i have no clue...any ideas???!?!?!?!

Possible rev limiter or ETC(electronic throttle control) issue. The play on the ETC should be set at 1/16-1/8" gap. My service manual is loaned out. Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I will help you more.

I have been thinking. You might want to check the camshaft the exhaust lobe might be worn off.

I have the same atv, 98 magnum 4x4. Rode yesterday and after we washed it off it started doing the same thing. ran perfect before i washed it then started to spit and sputter when I accelerated. It seems to improve if I hold the override button. I am lost on this!!!

Millarb, yea mine does the same thing, I'm cleanin the carb today I'll let you know if that fixes it, I think after I fix it I'm jus gonna sell it and go back to hondas..this is ridiculous
