I need help. Here is the situation:
I recently purchased a 2007 outlaw 525 irs. It ran great... the day I bought it. I parked it, figured I better change the oil before I start riding it too much. I got really busy, took me a week to get around to changing the oil. Got it done, ready to ride, then, CRAP, it won't start! It turns over a few time and then acts as though the battery is dead. I get out the jumper cables and it never turns over again, just makes that "battery-is-dead-clicking" noise.
And the problem is that I have no concept of what to do to diagnose/fix this problem. Don't misinterpret, I am a very intelligent person, it's just that when it comes to the mechanics of the internal combustion engine I am the equivalent of a 6 month old orangutan with a traumatic brain injury.
Please help if you can.
If I leave it alone for awhile, it will turn over once, then it goes to "clicking".
I was told to take out the spark plug and see if it would turn over, it does. I put plug back and it goes back to clicking.
I hate feeling like an idiot. I even hate asking for help in this arena. Makes one feel less "manly", not knowing one's way around a motor.
If you have time to offer advice, please use small words
