06 polaris outlaw vin location

Hi, I was just wondering if any of you could shed some light on the 2005 Polaris Outlaw 525. At least that is what I think it is, although I can't find it on any parts fiche. It might be an 06 I haven't checked the V.I.N. yet. I am a Kawi mechanic and I came across this quad for a very reasonably price. I couldn't pass it up. Anyway the engine case is busted where it meets the stator cover. Supposably the chain came off and smacked it. What I am really needing is information on how similar the various Outlaws are in there crankcases. There are several on ebay, but none are for my paticular model. Are the 500 cases the same as long as it is from a certain year range? Also do they share the same parts as a Predator other than the IRS models? Any info would be appreciated.

I am new to the ATV game, but I believe the 525 is actually a KTM motor. And from the spec sheets, it is the only KTM motor in the Polaris line up.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Welcome to the forum. If it is the Outlaw 525, it has to be a 2008 or newer. The Outlaw 525 is actually the KTM motor imported from Austria and stuck in the polaris outlaw frame. As far as side cases go, any side case from a 2008 to newer Outlaw 525 IRS, 525 S, or the 450 MXR should fit.

The outlaw and predator 500 are different machines. The motor is different completely. That is polaris's motor, and so the case would not work.

If you can find a potential case for an Outlaw 525 or Outlaw 450 MXR, i can verify for you whether it will work or not before you buy, but it should all fit, without actually looking.

Thanks for the info. I checked the V.I.N. last night and it is a 2006, so that means it is a 500??

Should be yes, if its a 2006. I can verify for you with the VIN, and run it in the polaris dealer site.

Definitely, I would like for you to do that. Will your system bring up service records etc? I'll have to go get it and write it down.

Yes, if any warrany work has been done, or if the dealer took the time to add any notes on the service work on the machine, then that will come up as well.
