Polaris Outlaw 2006 Starting Issue
Alright,
I have 2006 Polaris Outlaw 500, and recently it won't roll over at all. Earlier I boosted it and it rolled over fine ran it, worked good then shut it off. When I tried to restart had to boost again but this time there is nothing just clicking from the solenoid. I shorted out solenoid and just get a hum from the starter. Ok, so I thought it was the started removed starter and took it to a starter garage and they said the starter is absolutely fine. I bump started the bike, and it was actually running (as i was afraid that the bike was seized?). So from here i removed the magneto cover because I was told it could be something to do with the starter clutch or something?? Im lost at this point and it has been a continuous operation. If anyone else has any ideas, or has had a similar problem please let me know. I wanna get muddy soon
Thanks to this great site

Does your battery have a good charge?

I would still pull the battery get a full charge on it and give it a try, because you might not of had a good connection while boosting it your second time. Just a suggestion, I have had similar problems to yours and have done the same things. Good luck with everything.

when I bum started it, it wasnt running the greatest. It was running like it was firing at the wrong time and backfiring. I have tested everything to the CDI box. Will this prevent the bike from rolling over??? Cause it makes sense that the CDI box controls when to ignite spark

Same Problem
Hey Man I have the exact same problem and cannot figure it out. Before it quite turning over with the starter I had problems getting it started which I was told the valves needed adjustment. Well I let it sit too long before I adjusted them and now I have the same problem as you. Let me know what you find out. Thanks

bike works amazing, other then it stalls sometimes after I let off the throttle, or go down hills or big bumps...hmmmm going to post a new thread and see what other riders think.
get a multimeter bainses and just start from the battery and keep working your way back. I couldn't find a 06 service manual so i downloaded the 09 (same components just different colour wires). Its got a flow chart in the troubleshooting to test for starting issues!!. This is what I did and it seemed to narrow down to where there was huge voltage lost!. Let me know how it goes and I can help you along the way. Hope you get the o'l girl going once again

Thanks for the help won't be home for a couple weeks but I will let you know if it works and gets mine running. Sounds like you now have a valve or carb problem. I bet it's the carb if you haven't cleaned it and it has set for several months. Thanks again.
