Water in rear end?

i have an 08 irs and i got stuck in a small creek that was deeper than the boots on the rear. how well are these botts seald, if i do have water what action do i need to take to regrease, do i need to pull the whole rear end apart or can i just undo the bolts and get under the boot that way.

Boots should not get water inside unless they are punctured. They should be water tight, and are from the factory
