Outlaw 525s or 450
I am looking into buying either a 450 or outlaw 525s. I ride mostly trails and fields and may do some occasional jumping. I also might try drag racing. Would i be better off with a 450 or the 525s? How reliable is the outlaw also, and is it more high maintenance than a 450?

I'm very familiar with the 525IRS Outlaw and not so much with the 450. I own the 525IRS with the KTM engine. It is a great all around Quad! I ride dunes, Mountain trails & the track now and then. Compared to other stock Quads it is very fast. Without a doubt it will hands down beat the 450's & 700's (stock). It is an extrememly high reving engine so they do suggest you change the oil every 15-20 hours of riding time. I don't see an issue with that really, especially when you've spent a good chunk of change on it. Little bit of advice, learn how to do it yourself. It isn't that hard and will save you lots of money. If you plan on riding trails you are in luck because the 525IRS is "AWESOME"! It handels like a pro and is very comfortable to ride. If spinning donuts and sliding the A** end around is of importance then the IRS isn't the Quad for you. The "IRS" Independant rear suspension makes it hard. Not impossible but a chalenge for sure. Hope this helps a little. If you have any questions let me know.

you are better off with the 525S in my opinion. the 450 has little tires and a short gearbox. it purpose is MX track, not so much trails and fields. that is what the 525 is set up for.

Honestly doing donuts and that kind of thing is important lol, thats why i was looking at the 525S. How will it run against a stock raptor 700? woods and field. Also, is the 2008 outlaw 525S a reliable quad? Becuase i am only 16 and cant afford to be constantly buying parts for a quad. I know the trx450r is a pretty reliable quad.

The 525 S is faster than a stock raptor 700 and will be quicker through the woods as well. The KTM motor is well proven and very reliable if you take care of it. Change the oil and filters regularly (it takes 2 oil filters) and check the valves (very easy to do compared to alot of engines) and it should give you a good life. I love my 08 525 S LE. Great for the dunes, trails, drags, and track....although if you were looking for a hardcore MX'r get a 450.
