Replaced rear inner boots have a major question

when i removed the shafts i noticed that the bearing cages were opposite on both sides, well actually they were pointing in the same direction which is wrong, one had the bigger part of the cage facing in toward rear hub and the other side was facing outward toward the tire. so which is the correct way. i also noticed the inner bearing race that is pressed on the shaft is beveled on the end wich way is that supposed to go on the shaft. i need to know asap supposed to go riding today!
