I'm new! Just picked up my 08 IRS yesterday!

I'm new to this sight, and the proud new owner of a 08 outlaw 525 irs. I bought it used from a bike machanic in PA.. it's is very good shape.. I haven't rode a quad in years. I don't have alot of experiance, but I love riding. I'm tring to get used to the cluch and gears.. I seen it was dry in the coolant res. Do I have to flush or just add some? What kind?

Looking forward to being here, see ya in the threads.

Welcome to the forum!! Any good quality antifreeze should work. 50/50 to 60/40 mix will do. Suggest useing distilled water to mix with antifreeze.

Agreed, on all terms. Just fill the coolant resevoir to the cold line after the machine engine is completely cool, and top of the radiator cap and you should be good to go

let me ask.. Is it bad to switch gears without using the lever? I use the lever to get first going and to down shift, the rest of the time I just let off the gas alittle and pull/kick the clutch up and take off.

Not really, IF you can do it smoothly. Same clutch set up as a motorcycle, and especially in racing, clutchless upshifting is common because it can shave milliseconds off your laps. By unloading the clutch either by the clutch lever or gas, it shouldnt cause issues.

As long as you dont have to force it, the shift is smooth, and its qiuck, its fine. You have a skill not many people can every do.

Really? I don't consider myself a "skilled" rider I've owned me first quad for about a week and road maybe 2 hours(pretty much just some runs up and down a feild) The only other quads i drove were a Wolverine(auto) and a Blaster(manual). I just figure its more work to f* with the lever. I dont want to do any cluch/trans damage. I was told by the seller the Outlaw likes to run at high rpm's. I think its put unnessecery stress on the motor. But want do I know, I'm a newb..
