outlaw 500 jetting

well i pulled the trigger last night and bought a HMF slip on for my 07 outlaw 500

The pipe is coming with a 3 new jets and HMF says to replace the stock with the 155 jet. seems simple enough.. my question is, will i also need to adjust the needle clip or the air mix screw, or should that all be ok as is? Im just adding the HMF slip on ..still using the stock filter and airbox.

This is what i bought >>>

well if its any help, i just called HMF, they told me to just install the 155 main jet that comes with the pipe, screw the air fuel mixture screw in all the way then back it out 2 1/2 turns and i'll be ready to go. I bet if you call the company that makes your exhaust they will tell you what all need to be done too.

I'll try to help. If you want to just get your A/F ratio back in the money with an exhaust, follow WIGuy's advice and call the exhaust support line. They know best.

However the $$$ sunk into that JD jetting kit is the needle. Don't spend the money unless you are going to replace the needle. Otherwise you're paying $75 for $15 worth of jets. The needle is the meat and potatoes. It'll give you better acceleration and is well worth the $$$...again IMO of 3 years behind a parts counter.

i just changed my plan with getting the big gun evo and i bought the hmf sport for the outlaw 525..the exhaust comes with 3 hmf jets, 150,155,160..now im assuming no needle come with this? so i will just simply swap out my stock main jet for one of these? i have a k and n filter and im going to run it with the airbox lid off..so 155 or 160?

call HMF at 866-463-7473 tell them what quad you have and they will tell you what main jet to use and what to set the air/fuel screw at. other than those 2 things nothing else needs to be done with the HMF slip on exhausts.

from what ive seen i saw that people were running the 155 jet and 2 1/2 turns out but i will still call anyway..also this kindof sucks bc i just had the valves and everything adjusted at a local atv shop and the thing literally starts as soon as u touch the starter button. it was always a pain in my ass to start and keep it running until it warmed up.. now by me changing the main jet and messing with that screw is there a chance its going to be messed up again?

I think it will start and run even better once you have the new pipe on and jet it.
Its actually been years since i have piped and jetted a quad. Back in the days of 2 strokes we had to jet for everything..warm weather..cold weather..they were very temperamental. when 4 strokes started to show up with the same power as the 2 strokes it made everything a lot easier..now its EFI..even better. I still miss the smell of Klotz lol
