Outlaw 525 with CT racing exhaust dyno results

I have a STOCK 2007 Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS. I got my CT Racing exhaust on Friday, so Sunday was the install and dyno day.

After looking at CT Racing's dyno, I knew the peak HP number after just an exhaust and jet kit was high, so we did pre and post exhaust runs. We used a Dynojet Research Dyno.

It was amazing how lean my machine was running in stock form. We ended up taking out the stock 148 jet and after several trial runs found that the 160 jet was as almost perfect as you could get power/torque wise as well as the air to fuel ration.

After it was all said and done here are the results...

Stock: 39.90 hp and 29.44 torque
CT racing exhaust with jet kit: 41.74 hp and 30.63

Note: We broke 42 hp once out of three runs on the 160 jet but it laid down nearly identical 41.74 hp runs back to back. Not nearly the 48.94 hp that CT racing claims...

I cannot get the dyno chart to upload. I will keep working on that part.

The stock #s are average for all 450 and based atv's. But the #'s with the pipe are low. I would say you could gain more hp with some intake mods. My yfz with just pipe and filter pulled 49hp, and my 06 trx pulled 47.9 hp

Were these dyno pulls done with slicks or the stock tires?...knobby tires tend to slip on the dyno drum and show lower horsepower numbers.

I have a 2007 525 irs, Top is gas flowed, bigger intake, HMF slip on, and it produced only 48 hp. But i must also mention that this run was done on 22" tires, so i expect it to increase quite a bit on 20's.

Get yourself a rat stack for that thing and you'll see 45 plus. The IRS has to restrictive of an intake and leaves a lot on the table. 42 is the average with those mods mentioned. The actual KTM quads are not doing much above that with same mods.

One of the unique aspects of dynoing an IRS Outlaw...is that in order to get accurate dyno readings...you must loosen the pre-load on the rear shocks...and strap the rear of the quad down...so that the axels are parrallel to the dyno/ground...elswise...you will loose 3-5 horsepower thru the CV joints when they are at an angle.

You must also use dyno slicks...or you will not get accurate data.
