Phoenix carb woes

Recently bought a 2006 Phoenix and am having what appears to be a typical problem with popping back through the carb, erractic / non idle and backfiring on decel. I've thoroughly cleaned the carb internals, replaced the pilot jet, new spark plug and battery, but it still runs poorly, esp. at idle. I've gone through the other posts and concluded that this is a common problem with these machines, but could not tell what actually fixes them or if they can be completely fixed at all. How does one bypass / disable the throttle switch? Does that help these problems consistently or is there some other bit of magic I need to work on it? The dealer seems indifferent and won't give any advice, (how rare!), so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have the 2006 sawtooth with similar problems. My jetting from the factory was way off. My manual said 108 main and 36 pilot. The dealer told me it should be 98 main and 40 pilot. I tried a 100 main and 40 pilot and it would not run. I kept the 100 main and went back to the 36 pilot and it was better (not good). Still have to adjust idle from cold to hot. Am I happy, NO. Machine is a major pain. I won't sell it because I don't want someone else to deal with it. Always looking for advise also.
