Help! Did I get ripped off? What is normal Compression?
So our "new to us" 06 Pheonix is misfiring. I pulled the plug and it's black. I checked the compression and I believe it's only 70PSI (my compression checker has seen it's better days).
What is normal compression on these?

Update ---
Oops - Checked with throttle closed. With it open I get over 120! Yippy
It runs better with a new plug BUT sitting in neutral and reving it, it does not rev up all the way. Is there a limiter kicking in when it's sitting still?
Thanks for any input

Sounds like you need to clean the carb.

You may be right!
I am thinking the same thing. But before I do, I am going to drain some oil. There is too much in the crank case, it's above the top of the sight glass. The plug was fouled really bad, and the air filter was dirty. Also, there was a ton of OIL under the filter in the housing. Not sure what that means, but it can't be good. Possibly from too much oil in the crank case???
Thanks for the advice!

Too much oil could be gas and oil. Change it,

Pulled the wrong drain plug!
Doh! I downloaded a copy of the owner's manual, but I'll be damned if I could find a good description of which plug was for draining the oil and which was for the trans. Of course I picked the wrong one! Drained the trans. Fortuately I used a new container and had wiped off the area around the drain plug really well, so I poured it back in (I'll change it soon). There is only a little bit too much oil in there because when I shake the bike I can see the top of the oil in the sight glass. There was to much trans fluild too, so I am hoping that who ever filled them last just over filled them. But the stuck float is certainly a possibility and one I hadn't thought of. I see two drain plugs. The trans has a regular bolt type head, the other is an Allen or hex type. I don't have an allen that big. I tried using a lag bolt and a pair of vice grips but the bolt twisted and broke! I'll look for a machine bolt today and try again. Can I get a filter at an auto parts store? And what kind of oil are you guys using? Are you sticking with snythetic and if so, then Mobile 1 ok?
Thanks
Paul

Do you buy your filters at the dealer? I just search the Fram site and they list polaris but no Pheonix. I use Mobile 1 in my car, cheaper at Costco. Thanks - I will do the same.
