predator basket case

i bought a 2003 polaris predator, not running. It would run when it was bump started but not start on its own. After pulling the starter clutch i found that was bad because it would only engage sometimes. Checked the valves and they are way too tight to be within specs. Adjusted the valves and then did a compression test on it. The problem I have now is the compression tester read at least 250, a couple different times. What could be the reason why the compression is reading so high? Could a cam be wiped out? I believe the motor has a high compression piston in it but dont know anything more about it.

Really? Nobody? I pulled the cams and the decompression release on the exhaust cam seems as though it is not as tight as it should be. I have new cams coming but I am afraid that is not going to cure the problem. I know there is someone out there who knows.
