04 Predator 500, Engine trouble.

I have an 04 predator 500. The engine starts, then pops, and seems to seize up. It will start up again, but it seems as soon as it heats up it dies again. If in the lower RPM's, it will die almost immediately. I don't want to run it more than I have too.

Does anyone have ideas?

It's stock all to the bone except a new set of tires and rims. It wasn't ridden much. 4th gear was gone when we baught it. Wasn't that big of a deal, and it enabled us to get it cheap. It ran fine, had a little top end noise when it first starts, once warm it's gone.
A friend was on it the first time it quit. I had thought the battery went dead (we were having charging issues, but we did fix them, just a shorted wire) So I jumped it with my Jeep, then went to go. It quit about a minute or so later, wouldn't turn over. Thought the engine was gone right then. Got it back to house, and tried again and it fired right up. No extra noises or anything. After about it a minute it kinda squeaks, then quits.
Anytime I try to get it to go now, same deal, only tried twice since, don't want to do any more damage. The oil was low, but still on the stick. The oil was recently changed not long ago.
It was transported about 2600 miles from home. I think it was standing up most the of way. It did however sit for about a week before I fixed the wiring and fired it up.

first timing, second valves or clearances, third bad cdi or the black bag circuit. or it could even be maybe as simple as lean jetting to the extreme like a plugged main jet or stuck needle hole in the carb slide diaphram

Well the quad came from about 300' elevation, and I'm now in 3800'.

Could that cause the problems?

This will most likely be a stupid suggestion but do you have the gas turned on?

I only suggest this because it got me earlier today. I took my bike out and forgot to turn the little lever and was sorta having the same problem you are describing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has done that. My bike died, kept hittin the starter, started freakin out, then my wife comes over and turned the gas on. That's why I love her!
