2003 polaris predator 500 chain adjustment

went to go ride my 500 predator last night, 2nd time to ride it scince i bought it, and while greasing and lubing and general pre-ride look over i noticed that i cant get the grease nozzle on the fitting on the rear of the machine because the axle has rotated forward so that the fitting is un-accesable, any ideas what would cause this, and more importantly how to fix it and stop it from happening again?

that is how you adjust your chain. rotating it one way will tighen your chain one way will make it looser. just rotate it around until you can grease it then rotate it back around until the chain is set to factory spec for slack.
