How can I slow down my predator?
Hey guys, It's my first post here and I've just been browsing through but haven't found the answers I'm looking for. I just bought an 05 polaris 500, and It has a little too much power for the type of riding I do. I know it is chipped with a K&n and the exhaust is done out. I really just want to slow it down. I was hoping to remove the chip, Where is it? And also can I replace the sprocket so that I have a little bit less low end? Thanks for any help!

Welcome. Put a piece of stiff rubber hose in between the throttle slide and the carb cap. That will limit the amount the throttle can be opened. I did that on my sons first bike and it worked great.

if you want less bottom end you will have a hard time with the predator as its a very torque filled motor. stock cdi isnt going to do much for you either as for the most part it doesnt do much other then give you more top end. gears is a hard one also as you not really taking any power away just moving it around. smaller front sprocket with give you more bottom end and smaller rear sprocket will give you more top end.
I really have a hard time with people that buy a 500 sport quad then want to go slow with it. its not really what it was made to do.
