Racing a Polaris.
So i know racing a polaris is not all that popular. But, i stumbled on a good deal, sold my banshee, paid off my loan, plus got some cash on top, got a CHEAP predator. Has some minor mods, runs great, and ive just been having this nack to race. Ive always loved racing, always raced go carts, four wheelers, cars, ect. I love racing.
I think this is a good time in my life, and maybe a last chance, to do so.
Basically, will the predator with some minor work, get me through a novice/amature season? Then if I am doing well, and can upgrade, go from there?

I'm at the same point too and would like to know if it's worth trying to race a predator. All the other posts I've read say the Predator doesn't have a chance aginst other manufacturers comparable atvs because they are such faster reving and have more power? Correct me if I've miss understood.

See there i dont know, i got this pred real cheap, WHILE i had my banshee, and i instantly fell in love with the pred, and sold my banshee.
Id like to get into the moto, flat track would bore the hell out of me haha. Right now my quads got nerf bars, FMF slip on, Douglas wheels, Maxxis 2 tires, Protaper bars/grips and thats pretty much it.

You would be fine running that at the MX track! My advice to anyone looking to race is first take your bike to the track a few times. Your local MX track definitely has practice nights (usually AMA and CRA tracks will have 2 nights of practice per week with a small fee, $10-15 to ride for the evening). Get comfortable on your machine, see how it handles on jumps, in the air, and in the tight corners. Predators are not lacking in power, that's for sure. There's guys out there still racing the 400s and having a ball. That's what it's all about. As you get more comfortable with your machine, you'll naturally get faster. I run a KTM dirt bike, but have an Outlaw that'd I'd rip at the track (even with the IRS).

i have an 04 troy lee pred, i use it to do xc woods racing. The weight is about the only down fall to it. I've changed the gearing around some on it for the hills, and to make it easier on the cluth in the tight woods, but it definitely has plenty enough power to be competitive with any other brand

defently have the power just the other bikes have a lower center of gravity compared to a pred ( but that can be changed )

The Predator is very capable. I raced the Predator for years in different venues including drag racing, TT, Motocross, Short Track, etc. My Dad is Doug Nicholas who built the first National Winning Polaris TT motor for Daryl Rath. I have a custom built race Pred with a fresh 574 motor that was built from the ground up with a gusseted frame and not a stock part used on it. Over $20,000 invested. It has no racing on it as I went to college before this beauty could be used. Too many parts to list. 60 plus HP (RELIABLE HP) Please email, text or, call me if interested. Open to offers! Starting asking price $6500 406-548-7530. m_nichoals_24@hotmail.com
