Anyone found a way to paint plastics and make it last?

Ok, so i recently bought a parts bike and replaced my cracked plastic. Problem is that I cannot stand the silver plastics and I don't wanna go out and spend 350 to 400 bucks on new black plastic. Is there a way to paint my plastic and have it last longer than a week? I do alot of riding on gravel so ive accepted the fact chips in it are gonna happen. Just wondering if anyones done this and actually have it last? A friends brother owns a local auto body shop but said hes never attempted it and told me to do allittle research to see if its even worth a try. Any imput?

My brother has a Chevy Avalanche with the plastic clading. He is getting it painted and was looking for a paint that would adhere to the textured plastic. He found this paint that supposedly works. I just texted him for the name of it and will let you know. Maybe your friends brother could spray it.

I am about to paint mine. I am currently working on repairing all the cracks and once I do I will be sanding and then hitting them with krylon fusion. I have used it on plastic before and it has held up pretty well. If it does scratch or flake, I will just hit it with a shot to touch it up.
