2003 Predator 90 - no Spark
Had several opinions and have replaced the CDI and Coil - still no spark. The brake and fall-off safety switches seem fine (the rear light is on) but still no spark.
Please help! I've got $200 in this and summer is half way over!
Thanks
Rich

First make sure the safety switch is good. If not, bypass it for testing. Next check ignition switch. Then move to testing the stator.
Welcome to the forum.

Checking things...
Can I assume that if the tail light comes on, then the ignition and safety switches (brake and "fall off cord") are working properly?
If I trip these switches manually the tail light goes off.

That makes sense. But I am not for sure. It might possibly be the stator. I have a 2001 sportsman 90 but the only problem I had with it was a carb issue, cleaned it and fixed it. I have heard of problems with the kill switch and the stator before. If it is the stator rickystator.com might offer an aftermarket stator for it. The dealership might can give you the ohm specs for the stator. I am sorry I can help you more.

I'll check the kill switch tonight. Does anyone know if the kill switch prevents the starter from turning, or just interrupts the "spark"?

I think the kill switch grounds out the coil. But I am not 100% sure on that.

If you are refering to the switch on the left handle bar if it is "off" the starter will not operate.

So I guess the remaining items to check are the wiring harness and stator... it will have to wait till next week as we are headed out to D.C. for vacation. Will pick up this thread when I return.

Just wanted to update everyone...
It was the Stator which is simple to test.
I ordered the Ricky Stator for it and is cranked right up, sort of.
The engine runs but breaks up and 1/2 and higher throttle. I've thoroughly cleaned the carb and will start putting the old coil and cdi to see if a got a new bad part!
