Smoking bad after oil change
04 pred 500, was not smoking at all before, change the oil and i think i put to much oil back in it because as soon as i started it started smoking like crazy and was some oil leaking out the exaust. so drained everything again and filledd it up right and drove it for probly an hour and still smoking like crazy. drained the oil AGAIN and less came out then what i put in. Again right before that first oil change bike worked great and didnt burn any oil. Also new oil filter is in right.
thanks in advance.

did you clean your air box out after you over filled it?> But i dont see how you can over fill it... the oil tank will not let you over fill the motor, but you can over fill the oil tank.

Ok I must have just over filled my oil tank then. I dont know but I just misread the dipstick and when I changed it later I realized I had put too much in. So like I said I drained it out and the right amount is in it now BUT, it is still smoking, but not as bad. And no I did not clean the filter.

i know you say the "new oil filter is in right" but you sure... take it out one more time, maybe you killed your motor buy not installing it right.
if it's not smoking as bad i would say your filter got coved with oil from the crank case vent when you over filled her.

You are burning oil. So now the job is to figure out how.
Is your plug dark and dry or dark and wet. If it is dry, you are running very rich. If its wet you are burning oil.
If you added too much oil it could have pushed past the rings and scored the cylinder walls in the process. I dont know if this is possible with the dry sump system though.
