refuses to start!!!!!
alright guys im out of ideas i recently jetting my pred. and starting having probleams with it starting untill the bike was warm then i would start right up well now i have gone back to the stock jet and needle and i still can not get it to start new plug(good spark) and fresh gas and im out of ideas still nothing any ideas

im starting to wonder if my timing is off some how!!!!!!
this seem right i look on the lil window and the T mark is off to the left side of the mark and the top cams seem to be fine??????

why did you rejet? install a pipe? air filter? what jets are you running. i wouldnt think timing but i would check valve clearance

well i was untill the not starting issue started.. yes i have a uni Airfilter on the carb and a pure polaris pipe on it.. i was running a 170 main with the needle jet and openedthe mixture screw 2.5 open and did fine then it started acting up so i started tinkering and couldnt get anywhere so i figured i would put stock jet,needle back in and i still cant get the bike to start unless i pull start it... another ? lol shouldnt i see the T on the stator line up with the mark...... Thanks matt

there are actually 2 sets of timing marks on the flywheel. dont ask me why because i dont know...lol. you need to look for the other set. now the timing marks actually only line up like every 27 revolutions or so. 170 with a uni and pure polaris is rich. i run the pp pipe and uni clamp on and will be dropping to a 165 main and thats on a 558 big bore. i ran a 170 and its way rich for that filter pipe combo. i would check your valves if the intakes are tight it will make it hard to start when cold. as for the a/f screw i have never even drilled my cap as you shouldnt have to mess with it if it idles fine and mine had no problems at idle even after all my mods. to me it sounds like you need to check valves and clean your carb maybe also check your fuel pump to make sure its pumping fuel. now you can check the fuel pump by pulling the vacuum line off the intake boot and suck on it if fuel flows its working.

i have already tore the carb down and cleaned it and getting good fuel from the pump do you happen to kno what the clearences are for the valves??

Intake .006 (.15 mm) =/- .0019 (.05 mm)
Exhaust .010 (.27 mm) +/- .0019 (.05 mm)
Intake not more then .0069 (.20 mm) but not less then .0051 (10 mm).
Exhaust not more then .0119 (.32 mm) but not less then .0081 (.22 mm)

if they are off youll have to change the shims to do that you have to pull the cams
