04 predator 500 bored to 525 have questions
just recently purchased an 04 predator 500 that was bored to a 525, it also has an edelbrock carb, exhaust, and aftermarket radiator.
I made a dune trip with the bike this last weekend and it barely made it up sand mountain in 3rd gear. i was a little dissapointed by this. is it possible that the jetting is wrong? or could it possibly need to have a different cam?
any enlightment would be appreciated.

there isnt a 525 kit for the predator

I'm just going off what the guy said who i bought it from. i am not positive but the smallest kit i seen online is a 550 kit. if that is the case i am really dissapointed in the bike now. jetted wrong? cams?

could be a number of things i would check air filter fuel filter carb for jetting what gears you running what tires. if its a fuji motor it would either be a 558 or a 560 big bore. oh you said edelbrock carb didnt you....junk get a stock carb for easy tuning or you can get a fcr carb of a newer honda or yamaha of a 04-05 trx 450 honda carb. I run stock on my flat track bike. I also run stock cams in my race motor.

ok i will tear into it tomorrow. i actually am getting rid of the edelbrock carb and getting a stock one put back on. mainly because the edelbrock carbs wear your thumb out in a hurry. do you know what jetting i should be running with the stock carbs?

is it stock everything except for un-known engine mods? air box and pipe stock?

No it has clamp on k&n filter and hmf piped.

ok get your stock carb on and run a 165 main and needle clip 3rd notch down from the blunt end. then come back and tell me how much you love this bike
