New here

Hey all I'm new on here just thought I'd say hi.
Names James, I'm from Ontario Canada and I have a 500 Predator!

It has a small battery problem.... it seems to die shortly after connecting it??
Like I can start it let it run/idle for 10 mins, shut it off and it won't be able to restart itself??
I also noticed the fan seems to run excessively, like for 10 mins after shutting it off, but that shouldn't be enough to kill the battery should it? Maybe I'm due for a coolant change.

Any ideas for the battery drain?

Thanks guys.

James

i would flush and wash the radiator and blow it out also. Even on my race motor the fan doesnt run that long and i run it hard. As for the battery going dead like that i would run some tests with a multi meter and see if its charging properly. at idle it you should read somewhere around 15.9 volts or so and when you rev it up to about 4500 rpms you should see an increase in voltage up to about 14.5 volts or so. if your not seeing these numbers you need to start checking your charging system

Like Josh said use a multimeter to verify that it is infact charging properly. Might want to go through all the grounds to the frame with sand paper to make sure rust is not the problem. If all that checks out look at the voltage regulator, I had the same problem as you, a simple test, after the quad has been running for awhile put your hand on the voltage regulator, if its cold to the touch you will need to replace it.

Awesome guys! Thanks for the replies!
It is definitely charging at 14.5, so I will check the voltage regulator (where is it by the way?) and look for shorts or bad grounds.

And doing a coolant flush is top priority!

Thanks again!

James
