Front shocks

hi i have a 05predator troy lee and was wondering how to adjust the front shocks

easiest way to adjust them is lift the front end off the ground then turn the collars at the top of the springs up to soften the ride or turn them down to stiffen the ride

is the bbottom collar supposed to be attached to the spring? if i adjust it to high up the spring can slide up and down-

that will happen until you put the quad back down on the ground. i wouldnt make it to soft or you will bottom out if you hit bumps
