05 predator
Hello I'm new here and have enjoyed reading all the great info so far!
I recently bought a 05 predator that suposidly had a bent crank, after getting it home i got to looking at it and the starter gear and sprag clutch is where the trouble is, so i ordered a flywheel puller and am going to take it apart and see what is going on, i have read somewhere about a timing advance key, I thought this would be a good time to get one as i am going to have the flywheel off and would like to replace the key being there is already flywheel trouble stressing the key, I also plan on getting a hmf slip on as the stock head pipe looks like it should flow preety good and get a air filter to clamp right onto the carb and re-jet it!! any other simple fairly cheap mods i can do to this machine while i am at it? I had several 2 strokes about 10 yrs ago before i got into dirt track racing and now i have gave up the dirt track racing and back to 4 wheelers, boat and jey ski!!!!

HMF is a great exhuast for the predator i love how mine sounds and i wouldn't trade it...some other small mods depending on what your gonna do with it would be get aftermarket skid plates the guy that had mine before was a machinist and took some 1 inch steel plate and made a full plate for the under side and it has saved me! hope you like riding your predator as much as i do!

I have only rode 1 other predator and that was a friends that i was working on, they seem to run good, Before i got into dirt track racing i had a real nice trx250r honda, it was bad fast, and also had a 2000 polaris scrambler 400 that was a blast to ride, i bought it new and still hate myself for selling it.

these predators pretty fast and i was a little nervous when i first bought mine i had only been on utility quads and i was afraid of the speed....it took me about a week and the first time i got on it and pinned it full out i was surprised how quick the thing is i have been brought up around drag racing and it shocked me how fast it goes in such a short distance

nothing on the fuji motor is cheap...lol They didnt run them long enough in production to get the prices down to the cheap range like the 450s. If your looking for more power tho 558 or 560 big bore kit is the best bang for the buck. Dont spend the money on head work unless your going to really build the motor and when i say that i mean 600cc or bigger. And yes there are big kits out there. 2 different 600 kits and a 636 kit.

not really interested in a big bore kit yet, (wife isn't happy about me buying this lol) but if i keep it long enough and enjoy it the big bore kits don't seem to pricey!!! This thing has been rode hard and needs some tlc, so getting it running is obviously first then onto some major tlc and checking everything and get some plastic for it and a nice slip on exhaust, is hmf the best for the predators or is there something better, i wont be riding in the water so am going too do something with the stupid intake they have on these!!
