been on reading alot on the net latley being i took vacation to stay at home with my 3 boys durring ther chrismas break, got to digging more on my bike and the tag says it was made 12-03 2004, yet it has reverse, after doing a lil research i thought that 05 was the first year for reverse? any ideas on this or am i missing something here?

You would be correct, 2004 predators did not have reverse, and 2005 predators did get reverse.

Its really not uncommon for any manufacture to be building the next years model in the current year. Every manufacture does this, powersport and automotive. Heck, you have been able to buy 2012 polaris's in the dealers for a while now.

They would have started building the 2005 predators in 2004. They built the 2006's in 2005 and so on. Almost always, if you know the build date of your machine, you can just about assume that its model year is a year newer. Model years do not follow calendar years.

I would bet your 2005 predator is even a late build machine...(i.e. one of the last 2005 predators they built)

Yes, it probably is. Polaris is specific with the date on the machines, they stamp and record the exact production. They do this because they often have production date splits for part changes mid production.

My 500 HO is a 2002 and the build date is 10-30-2001.

You can buy next years model cars usually by late august of the prior year, which means they are building them much earlier. The 2012 Polaris models are in the showroom now.
I know this because I saw the Renegade 1000 at my local dealer, and had to clean the drool off my jacket.
