Twist throttle vs. thumb throttle?

What are the pros & cons of twist throttle vs. thumb throttle. What do you recommend? I did a search in the forum but came up with nothing.

personally, i would say if your not going to be riding 100% on an MX track, i wouldnt go to a twist throttle. a quad is a lot heavier then a dirt bike, so you need to "muscle" it around on the trails a little more. twist throttle on a quad on the trails is hard because you loose that ability to push and pull it around. with the thumb throttle, you can pull and tug on the bars and still control thottle position. its a big personal choice, but personally i would keep thumb throttle on the trails

Agreed. Personal preference. But if you're not used to riding bikes with twist throttles, it's a totally unnatural pita in a quad. I think the biggest thing is just whatever you're used to. I rode a warrior with a twist a few weeks ago, it was horrible, but I'm only used to thumb throttle.

Go with a Dual gasser if you want the best of both worlds.

I have ridden with both. I like the thumb throttle on a Utility Quad.

I'm originally a snowmobile guy, and I grew up with thumb throttles, but for some reason, the geometry of atv throttles (lever located under the bar as opposed to inline like a sled) seems to kill me on longer rides. I've tried rotating the throttle assy up to compensate but I still get sore or go numb. I really like the idea of Moose's dual gasser with both yhumb and twist choices at my fingertips. Once I order one and put it on I'll let everyone know what I think.
