Wont Start

I was riding my new Scrambler 850 xp it was running fine all day and then all of a sudden it just died. It will turn over and the exhaust will back fire every now and again. Does anyone have any ideas?

spark plug boot fall off?
fuel valve get shut off?(not even sure if it has one)
Air filter get blocked?
If it is turning but not catching then it either isn't getting spark, air or fuel.
Sorry I can't be more help than that but we don't have much details to work with.

Well thats what i was thinking it wasnt getting air, spark or fuel but i checked the air filter it wasnt clogged. I made sure the spark plug boots were still on good. Im just confused as to why it just stopped running.

Throttle freeplay adjustment error? Probably the most common cause of new quad DOA.

Rather be riding, instead I'm using Tapatalk

Given the occasional back fire I'd guess its a bad sensor. I dont have extensive knowledge of the machines system but given its efi there's surely some position sensors involved that can go bad and cause that kind of issue. My best recommendation would be to take it in and let the dealer hook it up to the computer. They should be able to figure it right away. Other than that if you've made any modifications at all check to be sure no wires got pinched melted or otherwise grounded out. If youve done no mods then just go over the wiring harness in general in case nothing like the above mentioned happened.

We all assume that the Red on/off switch on left handlebar is in the ON position, so as stated earlier check to see if the engine will start with the throttle barely depressed, if it does then it's just a simple throttle cable adjustment which is about 4 inches from the throttle housing on the handle bar.
