new owner with a few questions

Hello everyone,
I just purchased a 97 400 4x4 cheap, but knowing it needed an engine. apparently the small bearing on the counterbalance shaft let go. i have torn it down andhere are my questions... ( yes,a manual is on order )

1. anyone press apart the counterbalance and replace that bearing before? any tricks?

2. anyone press apart the crank to replace the rod? any tricks? or can the small rod end be bushed? the piston end of the rod is grooved from a stuck bearing.

I will be needing the two case halves as there is a few small holes. the cyl and head look good. nothing has been done to the engine before, so 1st oversized will work.

on to the rest..

3. it has a fox shock on the rear, is it rebuildable? where do you get your parts?

4. does anyone know what the wattage the stator puts out? for bigger lights.

5. what year quads are the same as mine? in looking for parts.

thanks for your input.
jason

cheapcyleparts.com or Barrets cycle for a good price on parts. EPI for Ball Joints, bearing and brakes.

You can press the gear off to replace the bearing. It has to be put back on in the EXACT same place you will need to make sure you have some sort of "timing" mark. You can buy the bearing at a bearing supply store. Out of all the questions that's all I can help you with.
