Problem with recoil starter
Pulled on recoil starter andit isnt returning like it should. It returns if you play with it but doesnt snap like it used too. Anyone know how to fix this and is there a gasket behind recoil starter cover. When the atv starts it pulls the cord back slowly, Any help will be appreciated.

I had the same problem with my Magnum, I took the pull starter off and found that moisture has gotten into the cover and the coil spring has some rust all over it. I took this apart and cleaned this the best as I could and then I put some dry grease (graphite) on the spring and it improved the function with the rope going back in. At first, it needed help going back in after using this a few times, the rope was returning on its own, still a little slow, but it does go back in.
Good luck, I hope this helps.

My starter still works but I'm having a hard time starting with starter, the battery seems like it doesn't have enough amps to crank it over fast enough to start. Starts right up with the rope.
I don't remember if it had a gasket or not, it's been awhile since i've had this apart. If in doubt, you can always put RTV silicon on where it mates up on the engine.
I've just found a bad hot wire on my quad today, this might be my problem with the battery having the amps to crank it over fast enough. Wish me luck!
Good luck to you!!
