Exclamation help! with my first 400 scrambler

i just bought a 400 scrambler 2 stroke. it starts easy but i can ride it for about 40 minutes and then it cuts off. after i wait about 10 minutes it starts right back up.. i put the fan on a toggle switch so it runs all the time, it felt like the bike ran alittle longer but then cuts off again. does anyone have a clue what will cause this? thanks

what you need to do is when it cuts out see if it loses spark, compression or fuel,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

it almost seems like it gets hot then shuts off. i noticed the fan shroud is missing . when it shuts down the water in the over flow bottle is bubbleling. also i had a banshee once that did the same thing and it was the stator. could that be the problem?

if there is a black bag circuit breaker like on the polaris 4 strokes located near the rear of the quad. then it is probably that. they are sealed but get moisture and dirt in them and then they heat up and kill the quad. they need to be replaced with a fuse i believe it is 40 amp but may be 50 amp.

If you try starting it right away does the machine back fire or just keep turning over and not firing up?

so once the fuse heats up it wont bow the fuse? the fuse heats up and kills the bike until it cools down then fires back up again?

Thats one thing with this site. I found not many people work on there own machines. I had better luck trouble shooting it my self then suggestions from here. I guess most people just bring there bikes to shops.
