2001 Scrambler 500 4x4
I just had a couple rollers go out on my chain. And I noticed the rear sprocket took some wear, getting quad back to trailer. It was like 20 mile ride through the mountains of WV. I'm looking for info on changing the rear sprocket. Looks a little deep and my Haines manual dont help much. Also looking to purchase this kit. Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4 2001 O Ring Chain Sprocket | eBay
Any thoughts or comments, please feel free to post. And please help with rear sprocket install. I know front sprocker comes off with snap ring. It's easy and I've done it in the past. Thanks for any help!

Thanks for info, I ordered the chain sprocket kit today. Thought about just changing the chain, but I read somewhere that you should always replace sprockets and chain together? And for some reason my Haynes manual says you have to remove the rear break caliber? Maybe they mean to just loosen it, so you can get slack in chain and be ready to adjust slack when done? That's the problem with a multi yr, & multi model manual, wish I could find my model specific service manual.
Just looking at it I can see the r.r. tire and hub needs removed. And then there’s the sprocket cover, and at that point the sprocket should be exposed. It don’t look that bad, and like I said I've done the front sprocket before. It's just held on by a outside snap ring. Which seams a bit insufficient, but I guess does the trick.

Got it all apart, just waiting on parts to get here. Does anyone know the torque specs on the rear hub castle nut, for the 2001 Scrambler 500 4x4? It seams my generic manual just list it for the sportsman?

yes I sprang the extra $3.00 for the red chain. You ask me it looks sweet! One question thou, the chain guard looks to me backwards? I installed the same way it came off thou. It has like a rubber coating on the outside, I would think that would go towards the chain? Any help be sweet, thx.

Thanks! Heres another picture, before the chain and sprocket install. Taken inside my way over crouded 2.5 car garage. With 4 Polaris quads, one Honda sport quad, 2 dune buggies, 5x14 trailer, 79 F150 4x4, mower, 20 gal air compressor, and a few tools. Almost forgot the power wheels truck, it's a packed house lol!
