so i need a new clutch....
Is there a difference between a clutch for a 2wd and a 4wd? I see that they do have different part numbers. Can I run any clutch off of a 500?

The part # you need is 1321976(old#1321632). I have a good used primary clutch. I have had it for sale almost a year now was asking $125.00 I will take $100.00 OBO for it including shipping.

I'm a little confused by weather I can use the clutch from a 2wd on my 4wd scrambler. The part numbers I got are 1321632 for the 4wd, and 1321976 for the 2wd. The local shop said that he didn't see why you couldn't use a clutch off of any 500. I would be inclined to think the same, I just don't see why there are two part numbers. Am I missing something?

Those part numbers are the same clutch. The part number has changed. The part # has changed but they are the same clutch.

Wow I just reread this thread, total redundancy on my part. I should've compared the part numbers before I posted my response. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Thats ok. Just remember a dumb question is one that is never asked. Glad to help you. Hope you get it repaired soon. I have worked in a auto parts store for over 22 years so I pay close attention to part numbers.
