Bucking Problem When Coasting to a Stop
Hi there. My 2010 Polaris Scrambler is jerking very bad when I let off the gas and coast to a stop. Right around 20mph it starts jerking forward, kind of like a really big downshift in a standard car. It never did this but I was running it at full throttle a month ago for about 2 minutes straight then as I came to a stop it got worse. It is getting worse with time and now while it bucks forward it backfires simotaneously. I took the drive clutch off and replaced the three wear buttons inside. They were pretty worn down. The belt also looks fine. after replacing them it is still doing this. Any ideas on what it might be? Appreciate any help I can get, thanks a lot.

If the clutch was put together properly and spring preload set. Check motor mounts. Look at front clutch too

I think I may have the same problem on my Trailblazer 400 (2003). When I'm coasting to a stop there is a period of intense vibration, not so much bucking but more shaking. The engine runs smoothly and doesn't appear to be the issue, the clutch engages as it should on acceleration, but I am uncertain if the PVT is causing the shaking on deceleration. The clutch has never been modified or serviced and the machine has pretty low hours, anyone have suggestions?

Thanks everyone I solved it! The front clutch had a bushing that came out and it was floating around in there. Also, I set the drive clutch setting to the spring in hole 1 and 3. That seemed to do the trick. Thank you.

Try replacing the three buttons inside the drive clutch. Mine were really worn and mine is only a year old. When I replaced them the ride smoothed out. Another thing I did was I adjusted the carb. We recently brought it from 5000 ft level to 1500. The spring inside the front clutch is also what we changed to gear it towards the altitude. Only other thing I can suggest is to check the belt or the chain. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I'll tear into that this weekend and post when I figure out if that's the issue or not.
