new member from georgia. 2004 polaris scrambler 500 4x4 ????

hey guys iam new to the forum and alson new to the polaris line of quads. I bought a 2004 polaris scrambler 500 4x4 and after riding it for two weeks i broke the chain coming of a jump. Well after 50$ and 4 hours and alot of lol i finally got the new chain on. So heres my questions while putting the new chain on the bolt holding the big chain guide on the bottom striped so i had to cut it off and ended up cutting the chain guard in the process. Has anyone taken this guard off and left it off ???? i dont really see the point in having it?? any feed back would be great and ANYONE OUT THERE WITH ANY POLARIS SCRAMBLER AFTER MARKET PARTS (WINCH,BUMPERS,RACKS ETC..) THEY WANNA GET RID OF HIT ME UP.

Thanks,
John

the chain guide is there for a reason, its also a guard for the rear sproket and chain.it helps to stop rocks from locking up the rear chain and sproket.i would replace the guide and drill and retap the screw hole and replace the screw.
