New to the scrambler.

I just picked up an 01 polaris scrambler. the timing chain is broken. my question is; Are the 500cc 4 strokes an interference engine. when the chain broke did it smash the valves?

Question 2: who makes the best manual for my machine?

the Polaris shop manual I have more my scrambler is fairly detailed.
