99 scrambler weird problem

hello im a noob to the forum bare with me. i just got a 99 scrambler 400 4x4. the problem is you can be just riding along and out of nowhere the handlebars jerk violently. its weird i can feel it jerking slightly when im going slow in a straight line. it started right after i rode thru a creek jerked bad for about a hour after. finally it stopped but i can still feel it doing it intermittently. i know little about the awd system on this bike but thats my guess somethings wrong. has anyone else had this problem? any help is greatly appreciated.

i have had one of the hubs stay locked in after turning the awd off and had it pull like that. if you back the quad up about 10 ft after turning the awd off it will unlock a stuck hub

i replaced the cv axles. still doing it. i agree with redrider i think a hub is sticking. i inspected both hubs and nothing looks damaged. the design is simple i dont see how they could stick. it seems like the backing up thing will work. i give it a try. thanks to everybody for the help.
