Clicking in transmission?
So the 99 500 I bought is making a clicking noise in the transmission. It doesn’t make the noise when it’s stopped but as you start to roll it begins clicking. It doesn’t have any rhythm and it’s not consistent but just randomly it will click. I have read some others had a similar problem where it would make a clicking in the transmission when it was stopped and it was the pre clutch so I’m guessing it’s something to do with the clutch but I’m wondering how difficult it will be to fix? The noise stops as you start to speed and doesn’t start again till you slow down. The noise happens the most when its going slow, almost at a crawl.
Anything you guys can think of would be greatly appreciated! I’m brand new to these things.

with the machine in neutral, does revving it make it do it? Does it sound like it is coming directly from the transmission, or the transmission clutch side area?

It only does it in drive. when you rev it in neutral it makes no noise. It almost sounds like something hitting the plastic from the inside of the transmission cover

The plastic clutch cover? If so, sounds like it is time for you to get familiar with it by removing it to see what is going on inside.

I took the cover off and the drive clutch is rattling around and hitting the plastic cover. My guess is that some bearings somehwere are shot and need to be replaced. I dont think its the crank shaft bearings because it doesnt do it when the quad is in Neutral. It only does it when a load is on it, like the drive belt tightening and pulling. I'm hoping its as easy as a clutch rebuild. Does anyone know of a good rebuild kit I could buy? and what is a good belt for these things? maybe its just because the clutch needs to be rebuilt but i think it could be slipping too. Thanks again!
