500 h.o.

Hi. New to the site,new to the ATV world. Over the last year I have picked up 2 scramblers. 2000 400 2x4 2 stroke and a 2002 500 4 stroke. My question comes on the 500. I see some listed as 500 HO and some not. Some tank decals have HO on them. Is there a difference. I cant seem to find any parts listed HO (high output I am presuming) verses none HO. any help out there?

well... 500 H.O. started apearing on the 500 H.O. sportsman (4x4, non scrambler model)

might just be some people putting decals from the newer models to replace the old pealing/scratched up decals...

I MIGHT BE wrong on this... as ive never seen a 500h.o. scrambler...

but its just my go at your problem.

i have seen a few 500 ho scramblers, i actually dont think i have seen a regular 500. I guess they made both

I have an 04 that's an HO. I think Polaris did some little mods to increase performance by nothing huge so most parts are the same

Makes sense. My 02 just says scrambler some of the newer ones have HO. they must all say HO on them because I dont see any other option.

Yeah there's like no difference.

The Scamblers from 1999 or 2000 (forget wich year) and up have a 500 H.O motor. The difference between a non-H.O and a H.O is the cam,carb,and intake boot. I believe the H.O has 2hp more.

I have a 1997 500 4x4 scrambler and its not labeled a HO. Like the previous post in 2000 they change "Very Little" not worth talking about and slapped a HO sticker on it.
