Polaris scrambler awd
Hey everybody, is there a way to make the scrambler an awd? I have a 400 4x4 and would love to make it awd with the 4x4 fully engaged all the time. If anybody knows how to do this let me know. Thanks

Ya the 4x4 only engages when the rear tires are spinning. I would like to have the switch engage 4x4

I do not recommend doing this. The system is not built to handle being locked in (you'll be replacing steering and gearcase parts often), it'll be like trying to steer an army tank with handlebars, you will hardly be able to turn.
I don't know why you would want to take a system that polaris spent huge money, and years refining and patenting and remove it. You'd be better off having a yamaha with the limited slip front in. Then you could lock in the gearcase after you come to a complete stop. It still wont steer worth beans at that point.
Regardless, put tires that are either 20% larger diameter on the rears only, or 20% smaller diameter on the fronts only, and it'll stay locked in. Or, you can change the sprockets so you gear the machine so the rear axle is spinning 20% faster then the stock gearing. That will also lock it in.
Again, these are very bad ideas, I do not recommend it in any way. You will grenade the front end and quickly turn this machine into a 2x4 only.

While this does sound like a good idea,it's not entirely possible, due to the way way the hilliard clutches are designed in the front hubs.
I agree with blueline,it would be a bear to steer, the front differential on your unit and all other polaris's is a spool type( read POSI) ,and does not allow for turning.

I agree, steering would be horrible locked in. When the 4x4 system is working Correctly it's hard to tell it's not locked in,besides it's easy to steer. I've been snow plowing, mudding, and everything else besides rock crawling since late 2000 and the system works Great for me.
