2014 sportsman 570 review

well let me start off by saying this is my first post on this site. ive read a lot about the 2013 500's on here and it was one of the reasons i decided to buy the new 570 sportsman. ive owned a suzuki eiger 400 4x4 for 8 years with a lift and 28 inch gators and never had a problem with it. I went out on a limb buying the polaris. at this point it is overall a huge disappointment.

i will say the bike has loads of power, rides like youre floating on a cloud, and has more ground clearance sitting stock than my lifted with tires eiger. now heres where it goes downhill.

i bought the bike about 2 weeks ago. 2 days ago i took it to my riding spot. its a lot of sand, trails, and a little mud. heres a short story of what happened the day before yesterday. also keep in mind its the first time ive rode it, except for just short rides around the yard and neighborhood. i got stuck in some mud that was just deeper than half way up the tires. not too bad, we've all been in way worse. high gear was struggling a little and being still in the break in period i didnt want to push it too much so i put it in 4 low. going forward i just bumped the throttle and both front axles snapped in half. yes, you read right. they done broke!! boom boom, two in a row in a matter of a second before i could even let off the throttle. i was completely blown away. ive never heard of anything like this. with the two front axles gone, i now have a two wheel drive bike, still stuck in the mud. i hook my buddys bike up the the back of mine and were gonna try to pull it out backward. take it out 4x4, put it in reverse, he starts pulling, i bump the throttle and boom, the right rear axle breaks. son of a....now i basically have a 700 pound anchor stuck in the mud. to make a really long frustrating story short i had to leave the bike in the woods over night and got a tractor to pull it out yesterday morning.

i dropped the bike off at the dealer today, expressing my extreme disappointment and frustration with this bike. also reminding them i had my suzuki for all those years and literally beat the crap out of it and never had a problem. i guess now we'll see what polaris' explanation for all this is and how well theyre willing to stand behind their product.

ive been riding for a long time in far worse conditions with other bikes and never had this problem. sorry to say i dont think user error comes into play here. im not some dummy who was abusing the bike. i was taking it easy since it was the first ride.

Is the atv completely stock?

If it is then I don't blame you...I'd be pissed!

Don't give me the play in mud and you will break axles crap...you shouldn't if the bike is bone stock...and you weren't being a complete idiot.

I'm an Engineer, electrical, but still...good design principals are somewhat universal.

Again, if you were not being overly rough on A STOCK BIKE, then that is crazy!

That would be like me sizing a feeder for some large motors, and sizing them where you can only run half of them at any given time! I would be fired!

However, I still think there is more to the story...sounds fishy!

3 broken axles in one mud hole. sounds a bit fishy to me as well. if the mud is thick, it will do that. maybe you Suzuki didn't break any axles because it didn't have enough nut to sin the tires fast enough.

Stock tires stuck in the mud should not snap axles. Most broken axles are broken with heavy oversize tires. Maybe there is an engineering problem with the 570s axle stregth? When the 570 came out in the RZR there was an engine problem. I think there was a recall to change a part before it failed. Now the 570 RZR owners are finding the factory air intake is no longer air tight and lets dust by. People have been fabricating their own fix for it. If more 570 owners snap axles easily there is a problem.

Besides the axles how do you like the 570? How is the power?

It generally happens when the wheels are put into severe angle situations or while pinched. My nearly stock 450 (1" over stock SwampLites) has been in stupid deep mud, never been stuck or broke anything.

the bike is bone stock, didnt do a thing to it. i wasnt even on it when it happened, i was going to walk next to it, had it moved. i know it sounds like im not being totally honest with all the info. if im lying im dying. all i did was bump the throttle. i wish i done something negligent, then i wouldnt have a reason to be so angry. im not trying to bash polaris even though i am upset. im just trying to see if anyone else is having the same problem with the same bike. i dont care whats happening to the 800's, xp's, or other models. these axles are apparetly different, perhaps made of balsa wood.

As far as I know the 570 is on the same chassis as the 500/800. Is there a chance there was some type of debris in the hole you were stuck in that got wedged in the wheels? Which axle do NOT break? The one without the rotor?
