2014 sportsman 570 review
well let me start off by saying this is my first post on this site. ive read a lot about the 2013 500's on here and it was one of the reasons i decided to buy the new 570 sportsman. ive owned a suzuki eiger 400 4x4 for 8 years with a lift and 28 inch gators and never had a problem with it. I went out on a limb buying the polaris. at this point it is overall a huge disappointment.
i will say the bike has loads of power, rides like youre floating on a cloud, and has more ground clearance sitting stock than my lifted with tires eiger. now heres where it goes downhill.
i bought the bike about 2 weeks ago. 2 days ago i took it to my riding spot. its a lot of sand, trails, and a little mud. heres a short story of what happened the day before yesterday. also keep in mind its the first time ive rode it, except for just short rides around the yard and neighborhood. i got stuck in some mud that was just deeper than half way up the tires. not too bad, we've all been in way worse. high gear was struggling a little and being still in the break in period i didnt want to push it too much so i put it in 4 low. going forward i just bumped the throttle and both front axles snapped in half. yes, you read right. they done broke!! boom boom, two in a row in a matter of a second before i could even let off the throttle. i was completely blown away. ive never heard of anything like this. with the two front axles gone, i now have a two wheel drive bike, still stuck in the mud. i hook my buddys bike up the the back of mine and were gonna try to pull it out backward. take it out 4x4, put it in reverse, he starts pulling, i bump the throttle and boom, the right rear axle breaks. son of a....now i basically have a 700 pound anchor stuck in the mud. to make a really long frustrating story short i had to leave the bike in the woods over night and got a tractor to pull it out yesterday morning.
i dropped the bike off at the dealer today, expressing my extreme disappointment and frustration with this bike. also reminding them i had my suzuki for all those years and literally beat the crap out of it and never had a problem. i guess now we'll see what polaris' explanation for all this is and how well theyre willing to stand behind their product.
