Sportsman 570 Battery placement???

I signed the papers on my new Sportsman 570 on Saturday and am picking it up tomorrow. When I took a good look at it after they prepped it I noticed where Polaris located the battery. WTF???
I didnt notice this on the sales floor because it was in between 2 other ATV's. It seems really low and close to the front driveshaft.
I may not have bought it if I had seen the location before then. Is anyone else concerned?
Can the battery go under water with no ill effects? I have been worried about this since noticing it, should I be or am I worrying about nothing?

Just speculating here......but wonder if when under water, could the water cause a short/direct circuit across the two terminals ?

Doubt it, but plausible. Remember, water is a better insulator than a conductor

At first I shared your concern but It's not an issue. I plow through swamps, run over all sorts of brush, briers and small trees; the battery has been submerge, all without issues. If it really bothers you, a cover could be fabricated easily. I like being able to clean mine off with my pressure washer.

Thanks......that's what I was hoping for......I will eventually fabricate some type of cover and post some pics when I do. I work in a precision sheet metal shop and hope to fab up some skid plates too.

well for starters the all the plastics seem thinner & flimsy(body, clutch breathers ect..) the mounting points seems thinner(rear stabilizer, front brush guard, motor mounts ect..) & alot of electrical connections seem to unplug way too easy. just my .02 cents i wouldnt own a new sportsman, ill stick with the 2004-2008 models
