1997 sportsman mileage?? How far will it go!?!?

Hey guys I have a 1997 Polaris sportsman 500 and I am curious as to how far these machines will go!?!? Mine has 9000 miles on it but the odometer didn't work when I got it 4 years ago so i'm just wondering how many miles these things can go for. I change the oil i'm My machine once a year. I don't put more then 200 miles on it a year. Also, is there any other maintenance I should be doing to t since it's got higher mileage? Since I've owned it I've replaced all sensors in the cooling system, starter, bendix, starter solonoid, new suspension bushings, new front hub clutches/seals, new belts regularly, and I am sure i'm
Missing something. As you can see I like to keep my machine maintained but wouldn't want to miss anything. I'm hoping to get as much life as I can from this machine. Thanks in advance

Holy batman.. 20k miles? That's awesome. So I shouldn't have anything to worry about then lol. For all I know mine could have 20k on it lol. I'm just looking to do preventative maintenance on it before something does go bad. I find it shifts hard some times when putting it into gear. That's really the only problem I've had but it still operates as it should. I have a plow for it also, but never use it.

Well you've got a user manual or FSM, right? User manuals are on polos site. FSMs are available from lots of sites for about $5.

But in short follow their suggested annual maintenance list like greasing all the zerks (don't forget handlebar tube and slider in between front/rear drivelines), then there's the transmission oil, front drive fluid and front wheel 4wd oil in hubs and air filters. Probably other stuff too just off the top of my head.... Luck and enjoy.

1998 Sportsman 500 - 4725 miles
Front/Rear 18W-4 inch solid metal CREE LED Floods
Polaris 8" Rear Rack Extender
ODI Rogue 130mm grips
12.5" Kenda BearClaws on rears
2010 Sportsman 500 HO - 1362 miles 182hrs
Front/Rear 18W-4 inch solid metal CREE LED Floods
Tamarack 10" Footpegs
Polaris Front brush guard - bumper
ODI Rogue 130mm grips
Wants BearClaw HTRs for Christmas!

I haven't done any fluid changes to the transmission yet, but I have done the clutches and seals in the front hubs and all fluids changed there. I will look into a manual. I mainly just did the maintenance for my dad because he bought the wheeler used. But he never uses it so he passed it on to me, and I'm looking to make it better if I can. I apreciate any help I get. This site is awesome

This 'transmission' uses 2 qts if 30wt motor oil or gearcase oil, full synthetic is better. Polo calls it "AGL". Here's a polo list of fluids for all years/models: http://polaris.hs.llnwd.net/o40/lub/...tion-chart.pdf Double check yours.
