How much power diff between a 2000 sportsman 500 and a H.O.

Like the title says how much difference is there in power between a standard out put and a high out put??

i have a 2001 400(425cc) dealer said it has the power of a 500 engine that is not a ho. i don't know if that is true.

01 sportsman 500 with 1200 mi., moose carb kit. My third machine. Wifes = 2001 sportsman 400 (past 8000mi.) she does a lot of riding. Her second machine. My ride kawie prairie 650 with a diamond G dg5 hole shot mod.

I asked the dealer this question and they looked at me like I just asked them some algebra question.

The HO has 3 to 5 more hp then the standard sportsman. They usually have a little better performance all through the power band.

Someone (dirty Dale I believe) said it's different internals, so short of rebuilding the engine from the ground up....??

What you need is a DDP camshaft, piston and bigger 40 mm carb to turn your standard sportsman in to an HO.
